About This Item
1967 hardcover as pictured. Sixth printing of 1943 original. Reputed to be the first fully documented study of slave revolts in the period leading up to the Civil War, this book reports on over 250 acts of rebellion exploding the myth of the docile slave. This copy is ex-library with typical markings but remains very readable. Binding is intact. Red cloth boards show edge wear with fraying at top of spine, and bumped corners. Both hinges are cracked. Text shows some underlining and notations in pencil as well as a few dogeared pages. Includes an index and an extensive bibliography. No dust jacket. Price reflects condition.
