Just a hint of shelf/edge wear and rubbing to DJ - now in mylar. No writing or underlining of text - all pages are clean and unmarked. A comprehensive study of a largely neglected period of the medieval Greek Empire...Angold has produced an elegant and highly readable study, based on solid scholarship and containing a thorough review of recent scholarship, a detailed bibliography...and new conclusions, studded with stimulating discussion. A significant contribution to Byzantine studies, by any standards - Marios Phillippides, Speculum. From the library of Professor Ilene Forsyth, professor emerita and alumna of the University of Michigan and a published author as well. Her husband George Forsyth, was chairman of the art history department at Michigan from 1947 to 1961, when he became director of the university's Kelsey Museum of Archeology.
