About This Item

Harrisburg, PA: G.S. Peters, 1841. A scarce Genovefa chapbook. Seems to be the second edition by Peters. The retelling of the legend of Saint Geneviève of Brabant, printed by Gustavus Peters of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Peters was a German immigrant printer and thought to be America's first colour printer. Text in German. Illustrated to first page - which also serves as the front cover. Age toned, with some finger marks. Small owner's stamp to the head of the first page. Overall in decent condition. 38 pages. 165 x 105 mm (6½ x 4¼ inches) A scarce Pennsylvania German printing, there are no copies recorded of this issue on Jisc / Copac.
