An epic poem from the Sudan of West Africa, first published in German in 1921 as "Spielmannsgeschichten der Sahel,' newly translated for this 1971 First Edition, first printing, by anthropologist/folklorist Alta Jablow, & brought to life with new woodcut illustrations by the husband-and-wife team of children's book illustrators, Leo & Diane Dillon. In 47 pages, this hardcover has rust-colored cloth over boards decorated with black tribal symbols to front & lettered in black to spine. Condition is Fine: completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages white. The unclipped DJ is VG+, downgraded due to light soiling & very slight edgewear, including 2 short tears; NO fading, beautifully protected in new mylar cover free!
