Paris: Librairie de Paris Firmin-Didot et Cie., 1899. A lovely, uniformly bound copy of this biography in mixed edition. Dedication in the first volume to M. Henry Morenne, as a souvenir of a visit of the author to Richelieu in 1931. All three volumes are bound in half red Morocco with marbled boards. Gilt titles and decoration to the spines. All three are in excellent condition with little handling to the leather and boards, although Volume 1 is a slightly brighter shade of red than the next two volumes. The paper is a high quality glossy paper. Volume 1. 1899. Third edition. This covers the youth of Richelieu 1585-1614. Author's inscription to the front end paper. Title - probably the original cover - half title and portrait of Richelieu. A second title page, text: pages 1-552. Folding map of France at the end of the reign of Henri IV. The pages are good, with a little foxing. Moderate foxing to the map. Volume 2. Part I. 1896. First edition. The Road to power, the first ministry: 1614-1617. Title - probably the original cover - half title and portrait of Marie de Médicis. A second title page, text: pages 1-202. Good, bright condition. Volume 2. Part II. No date - First Edition. Richelieu the rebel, the European crisis of 1621, Richelieu Cardinal and Prime Minister - 1617-1624. Title - probably the original cover - half title and portrait of Charles D'Albert Duc de Luynes. A second title page, text: pages 203-358. Folding illustration of the Bataille des Points-des-Cé. Good, bright condition. 255 x 170 mm (10 x 6¾ inches). . Bel exemplaire de cette biographie en édition mixte, uniformément relié. Dédicace dans le premier volume à M. Henry Morenne, en souvenir d'une visite de l'auteur à Richelieu en 1931. Les trois volumes sont reliés en demi-maroquin rouge avec des plats marbrés. Titres et décorations dorés au dos.
