First Edition 1918 Volume II: from the Death of Alexander I, until the Death of Alexander III. (1825-1894). Original dark green cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Clean, unmarked pages. Very Good except last end papers have visible binding, though binding is still tight, lowered to Good condition. This monumental work of Jewish history covers Jewish life in Eastern Europe was written in reaction to the Russian pogroms of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Simon Markovich Dubnow (1860-1941) was a Russian Jewish historian and ideologist. He was one of the founders of the Jewish Historico-Ethnographical Society. In 1941 he was killed by Nazis.
