Glasgow, Edinburgh and London: Blackie & Son, 1857. First UK Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 16mo. Orig. brown cloth decorated in blind, spine lettered in gilt, iv, 184pp. With seven lithographic plates, including folding frontispiece of a cow. Owners rubber and blind stamp on title page. Cloth somewhat worn o/w very good. The first part of the book is a translation from the French work of Magne, which contains information on external marks on cows pertaining to milking properties. Magne developed the "eschutheon" theory.
