Brown cover with illustration of Harriet Jacobs, clean, light wear to all edges, lower front corner creases, binding tight, solid and square. Pages quite clean, no marks of any kind, no creasing, in very good condition. Harriet Jacobs was born a slave in North Carolina in 1813 and became a fugitive slave in the 1830s. She recorded her struggle for freedom in an autobiography that was published pseudonymously in 1861. This is a major antebellum autobiography of a black woman.
