Black in 1851. Letters and digests of letters by Black and Alexander Ross on the early struggles of Presbyterianism in the colony are in the Ecclesiastical and missionary record, vol. 8-9, 1851-1853." - Peel (2003) 1030. Includes black and white photo of Rev. Black's tombstone, upon which is written "First Presbyterian missionary to Rupert's land Sept. 18th, 1851, and first Pastor of this parish to whose spiritual wants he ministered for more than thirty years. Died Feb. 11th, 1882 at the age of 64 years." Obituary news clipping of Rev. Black's wife affixed to p.87. viii, 9-158, [1], [5 ads] pp. Tissue-protected illustration of Rev. Black. Additional black and white illustrations. No dust jacket, as issued. Some peeling from front fixed endpaper along fore-edge. Bleaching to portions of bottom of each royal blue board.
