About This Item
London: Collins, 1960. First UK edition, first printing. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper, with its spectacular wraparound design by Hans Tisdall, is bright and free from handling marks. There is some light shelf wear present, and some slight creasing to the tail of the spine. It has not been price clipped (16s. net). The green cloth is bright throughout and the gilt titling equally so. The text blocks are mostly without foxing, but for some very faint spots. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition.
Originally published in Italian in 1958 under the title Il Gattopardo, The Leopard chronicles the changes in Sicilian life and society during the Risorgimento.
