Fine (though with underlining on a very few pages) in very good dust jacket. The second volume in this landmark series on the literary history of Spain. Renaissance Spain was, atbthe beginning of the 16th century, was entering the period of its greatest splendor. This volume described the main current of the Spanish literary Renaissance--the new humanism and influence of Erasmus, the eccentric erudition of Guevara, the new poetry of Boscan and Garcilaso, the exuberant flowering of prose fiction in a variety of forms, the romances of chivalry, the pastoral novel,a nd the dawn of the picturesque.
