Marbled endpapers. Top corner of half-title page is torn. Pages show a bit of soiling, but overall a relatively clean copy. A nice copy in a handsome binding. Includes index. xii, 534 pages. 7.2 x 4.6 inches. A scarce first edition of Richard Hughes' A Manual of Therapeutics, published as Volume II of A Manual of Homoeopathic Practice. [Volume I, titled A Manual of Pharmacodynamics, was published a couple years prior.] It covers a plethora of diseases, including those affecting the blood, nervous system, eye, ear, digestive organs, respiratory organs, circulatory system, urinary organs, sexual organs, and skin, as well the diseases of children. Dr. Richard Hughes (1836-1902) was a British homeopathic physician, scholar, a colleague of Dr. Timothy Field Allen, and lecturer in Materia Medica and Therapeutics at the London School of Homoeopathy. In 1876 Hughes was appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Organization of the International Congress of Homoeopathy Physicians in Philadelphia, and served as the editor of the British Homoeopathic Journal from 1889 until his death. He edited the six volumes Cyclopedia of Drug Pathogenesy and assisted Dr. Robert Dudgeon in translating Hahnemann's Materia Medica Pura.
