About This Item

New York: M.S. Mill Company and William Morrow & Company. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. 1960 (c.1959). First American Edition. Hardcover. [light shelfwear only, spine very slightly turned; the jacket is unevenly browned on the rear panel and spine]. Romantic suspense novel -- this author's specialty -- set in Greece, in which a woman who's recently broken up with her fiance falls in with a "charming, but quietly determined Englishman" who's come to the country seeking more information about the death of his brother, an OSS agent, during World War II. It was Stewart's fifth novel, and further cemented her growing reputation in this genre. .

Synopsis

After breaking off her engagement, Camilla Haven is taking a holiday alone in Greece. Sitting at a cafe alone she is lamenting that nothing exciting ever happens to her when a mysterious gentleman shows up with keys to a car - urging her in a matter of life or death to go to Delphi. Camilla then finds herself in an exciting and dangerous journey to solve the death of Englishman Simon Lester’s brother some fourteen years before. Stewart was one of the most prominent writers in the romantic suspense subgenre. This was her fifth published novel, preceding her popular The Merlin Chronicles .
