About This Item

London: Constable & Co LTD, 1923. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 7.5" by 5". Dagnall. The very scarce first edition of this pioneering science fiction novel, an ecocatastrophe disaster novel by Alfred Walter Stewart. The very scarce first edition.Connington's first and easily most important novel. A pioneering sci-fi novel detailing an eco-catastrophe. In the vanishingly scarce original unclipped dust wrapper, designed by Dagnall.'Nordenholt's Million' is a dystopian novel, after the viral spread of a bacteria renders farms barren, threatening to turn the world into a hungry wasteland. A businessman, Stanley Nordenholt, sets off on a mission to save the world.J. J. Connington was the pseudonym of Alfred Walter Stewart, a chemist who wrote detective novels and this single work of pioneering sci-fi. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. A few small marks to the head of the rear board. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Spots to the endpapers. Dust wrapper is edge worn, with chips to the head of the spine, and to the head of the rear wrap, and a few closed tears, larger to the rear wrap. Small chip to the front joint. Wraps are a little marked, spine a little sunned. Spots to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good
