About This Item
London: Batsford/Scribners, 1940. First edition, first printing. Published by Batsford/Scribners in London, 1940. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, beautifully illustrated throughout and wrapping around, has some very loss to the extremities and to the spine and has not been price clipped - two neat internal repairs to closed tears on the front panel. The boards are free from notable chips and marks, though are slightly bumped at the corners. They are slightly toned throughout, though. The text blocks are also toned. The internals are clean and free from previous owners ink. Overall, this is a very good copy. Paris France" is a memoir by Gertrude Stein, an American writer and art collector who became a central figure in the Parisian avant-garde movement of the early 20th century. Published in 1940, the book provides Stein's personal reflections on her experiences living in Paris. Stein offers vivid descriptions of the city's vibrant cultural scene, its bohemian neighbourhoods, and the influential artists and writers she encountered, including Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Through Stein's unique prose style characterised by repetition and rhythm, "Paris France" captures the essence of Paris as a dynamic hub of creativity and intellectual exchange, immortalising the city in literature.
