Four Volumes, Three quarter bound in tan calf and marbled boards. Floral gilt tooled and rubbed spine. Blind line tooling to cover. Rubbed marble boards and shelf wear. Bumps and wear to cover edges. Vol. I with portrait portrait of Walpole. Frontispiece and endpapers tanned, foxed and binding slightly detached to front and to end. Some tanning and marks to book. Bookplate for William Arbuthnot and stamped in red for T.G. Odling. Vol II: two bookplates; William Arbuthnot and John Alves Arbuthnot and stamped for T. G. Odling. Slightly spiked endpapers. Foxing to first few pages. Vol III: foxed endpapers signed and stamped T.G. Odling, bookplates appears to have been removed. First few pages slightly soiled and moisture marks. Endpapers foxed. Vol IV: bookplates for William Arbuthnot and John Alves Arbuthnot and stamped for T. G. Odling. Slight fold markS and foxed to first three pages. Last few pages foxed with pencil annotations and marks to inside back cover.

Thomas George Odling (1911-2002) was a Clerk in the House of Commons.
Sir William Arbuthnot, 1st Baronet of Edinburgh (24 December 1766 – 18 September 1829) was a Scottish landowner and politician. He served as Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Lord Lieutenant of Edinburgh anD Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh. John Alves Arbuthnot (1802–1875) was Sir William's son and owned Coworth House, near Ascot in Berkshire. Arbuthnit was a director of the London Assurance Company and of the London and Colonial Bank.
