About This Item

Los Angeles: Municipal Art Patrons and Art Commission of Los Angeles, 1953. First Edition. Stiff illustrated wrappers. Very Good. Oblong 8vo. Pp. [36]. Fully illustrated with black & white halftone photo reproductions and drawings, text in red. Photo illustrated wrap, saddle stapled. Cover moderately age toned, edges rubbed, staples oxidized, leaves crisp and bright. A laid-in newspaper clipping documents the various private dinners being hosted in conjunction with the exhibit, citing attendance by civic leaders, arts-patronage nabobs and other worthies. Catalog prepared for the Los Angeles stop on the Guggenheim's traveling exhibition where, according to rear cover text, Wright's exhibition buildings and Barnsdall Hollyhock house were to become a Municipal Art Center. These eventually became the Barnsdall Art Park. Now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve with acid-free backing.
