Octavo (20.5cm.); publisher's blue decorative gilt-stamped cloth, top edge gilt; x,332pp. Extremities a bit scuffed, shallow loss at spine crown, spine cloth rather darkened, text block a bit soiled, else a Very Good, internally clean and sound copy.

Inscribed on front free endpaper: "Elizabeth Prescott Hall from the Author," below which is the ownership rubber-stamp of a Frances Minturn Hall (both presumed relations of the author).

Description of American social customs and etiquette by the woman's suffragist, later awarded along with her two sisters the first Pulitzer Prize for biography for their work "Julia Ward Howe" (1917).
