Description: This is a volume from the Time-Life Classics of the Old West; a facsimile reprint from the 1885 first edition, including reproductions of the colored title page and colored frontis. From the original title page: ''Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony; Taken from Real Life by Chas. A Siringo, an Old Stove Up 'Cow Puncher,' Who has Spent Nearly Twenty Years on the Great Western Cattle Ranges.'' This was the first autobiography of a cowboy and is one of the most important range books. John H Jenkins states, ''In this narrative, Siringo relates all these cattle drives, outlaw chases, and cowboy adventures frankly and with obvious glee -- he was not yet thirty when he wrote his book.'' Stanley Vestal says, ''Rambling, self-assured, dramatic humorous, easy, it not only gives facts and adventures in plenty, but interprets all''. (Rampaging Herd, Number 2077; Six-Guns, Number 2032; Life and Literature of the Southwest, pg 119; Basic Texas Books Number 185; Howes Final Edition, Number S525; Book Lover's Southwest, page 86).
