The title page has been laminated to retain its integrety. 412-page history of Topeka by the first treasurer, first postmaster and first banker of Topeka. In a pocket at the back of the book are bound clippings on additional events in the history of Topeka. One clipping relates Zebulon Pike's first excursion into what is now Kansas in July 1806. Another clipping relates Cyrus K. Holliday's arrival in 1854 to begin to build up the town and bring the railroad to the area - The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe.
