About This Item

London.: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington.. 1887. Fold-out coloured map facing the title page, 74 black & white engraved illustrations, xx + 668pp original blue cloth covered boards blocked in black & gilt. Slight age toning to the edges, corners bumped, spine a little darkened, but a very good firm and clean copy of the first edition. The record of a journey through Turkestan, Bokhara, and Turkmenia, contains a compendium showing the course of events and diplomatic correspondence which led to the appointment of the Afghan Boundary Commission, with a sketch of the manner in which the delimitation has been performed. The matter is then reviewed from a Russian, English and general standpoint. .
