About This Item

Quarter red buckram, faded at the spine, with patterned paper on the boards. Square and firmly bound with a gilt top edge, clean internally. The chronological predecessor to Sartoris, a novel set in Faulkner's Yoknapatawpha County. Originally published as short stories in various magazines in the 1930s. As could be said about many of Faulkner's novels, The Unvanquished is the story of Southern characters who "survive the war by many years, but never escape its influence.
