Description:
London: Simpkin and Marshal et al., 1834. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine in a Fine slipcase. Original brown cloth, recently rebacked retaining nearly all of the original spine; spine label mostly lacking. A Presentation copy INSCRIBED by the author on the front blank: "To/William Wordsworth Esq./with the author's/compliments." In addition this copy is SIGNED by the recipient on the title page: "W Wordsworth/Rydal Mount." In this volume, and in a second that was issued the following year, Ord attempted a history of England in verse. His efforts were not well received. One reviewer in THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE claimed "that the author has formed his manner and style too much on that of Lord Byron in exaggeration, impetuosity, and a perpetual straining for effect." A scarce book from Wordsworth's library. Old bookseller description laid in. Housed in a new calf-backed slipcase with cloth chemise.

Hello Biblio,
This is a highly unusual/bespoke listing so, please can diligent attention to the below description be payed:
Today's listing is for a signed, first standard edition of Paul McCartney's most recent autobiographical book "The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present" from Penguin's Allen Lane, and edited by internationally-renowned, Pulitzer-winning poet, Paul Muldoon.
Book on offer is a one-of-a-kind/exclusive collectors' edition, and most likely the only one of its kind in the world right now! (Open to being corrected on this if mistaken - please get in touch).
N.b. this book is **not** one of the 350 signed/limited deluxe edition copies of the book released in the UK/US (these easily distinguishable by their orange exterior cover).
The Book: Book is "brand new", with handling solely to insert the two autographs and to photograph (gloves were used at all times). Evidence of purchase will be included.
The Autographs: Expertly inserted into the book are the autographs of Sir Paul McCartney and Paul Muldoon. I am very pleased (and relieved) at how these assemblements came out and, you can scrutinize each in the photos.
Unfortunately, a totally pristine assemblement wasn't possible, however, the two blemishes on the McCartney autograph card are minimal + barely noticeable when looking down from above. Please see photos for details.
As you will see, Sir Paul's signature is personalised "To Mary", with the o of the "To" looking rather like a comma. Paul also omitted his surname, which presumably makes this autograph of his in particular exceptionally rare, as one seldom encounters an autograph of Paul's without the McCartney. Surname omission could make for a more personal and unique collectors' item.
With respect to the personalisation itself: once all said and done, I am of the view that this is easily overlooked in relation to autograph valuation. We're talking about Sir Paul McCartney here. The reason you are reading this listing at all is because all of us feel in some way indebted to Mr. McCartney. I feel the personalisation tells a story and, as we all know, stories are what Paul is all about. The personalisation should therefore be embraced, and I'm of the view that genuine fans will concur on this. Of course, should your intention be to purchase this book as a gift for a special lady whose name is Mary: today may be your (and Mary's) lucky day :-)
As far as I have been able to deduce, mine is the only version of the 'Lyrics' book thus far available for purchase online which carries the signatures of "both Pauls" (again please correct if you know this to be mistaken).
N.b. autographs have been affixed to book in such a way that any attempts to separate them would cause irreperable damage to the book itself.
The authenticity of the autographs: Paul McCartney: Details of autograph's acquisition will be shared privately with serious bidders/prospective buyers only (story will be one of the best you will have ever heard, if not the best!). Unusually, I have evidence, which can be corroborated, of exactly what Mr. McCartney was in fact doing right before he gave this autograph. Signature guaranteed to pass any authentication service (PSA/JSA/Beckkett/Gary King (UK)/Christies/et-all), and and Google are at your disposal for comparative research.
Paul Muldoon: evidence of autograph's authenticity provided, incl. verifiable COA.
Mr. McCartney himself has confirmed that 'The Lyrics' book will be the closest we will ever get to an autobiography, in addition to confirming towards the end of last year that he has now "stopped signing". Whether Sir Paul holds to this is anyone's guess but the value of his autograph is sure to rise with each passing year hereafter.
The Extras:
- x1 'The Lyrics' promotional display poster: sent to bookshops by publisher for display purposes + never put on general/public sale. RARE! (unused so in pristine condition).
Item would make a great gift for someone special or could serve as a sound investment.
Worldwide shipping available - please message for prices.
**Please allow c.1wk for postage as I travel regularly for work** (hence the 3-5 day dispatch).
Willing to consider reasonable offers.
**Please reach out with all/any questions - will respond asap.**
Thanks in advance for interest.

Together with AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED by Irving on his stationery to Neilson laid in, in which Irving says that Neilson's photos will also be used on the UK edition, and jokes that another photo, to be used for the American and Canadian editions is more flattering, because it doesn't show Irving's face. New York: E. P. Dutton, 1943. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Book condition is Very Good; with a Very Good dust jacket. Edge wear to jacket, including a few chips. Two scuffs to paper at jacket rear panel. Minor foxing. Crease to bottom corner of a few pages. Text is clean and unmarked, frontispiece. First Edition is stated, first issue jacket present. An inscription as vibrant and humble as would be expected of Guthrie; written upside down, one can picture the book being handed to Guthrie and him signing before rotating the book. Guthrie tells the recipient, Marshall, "I hope you find some real 'fight' in this book..." Inscription is dated to April 1943, a few weeks after the book's publication. It would be difficult to underestimate Guthrie's influence on American folk music and as well as American popular music. As academic arguments persist about the great American novel, Guthrie's musical work and this book itself are distinctly American in attitude, imagery and…

Original Hardcover. Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd. | 2021 | Original Hardcover | 960 p. | This book is brand new. | Language: Engelska --- Information regarding the book: 'More often than I can count, I've been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right. The one thing I've always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs. I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I have no such notebooks. What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I've learned serve much the same purpose. And these songs span my entire life.' In this extraordinary book, with unparalleled candour, Paul McCartney recounts his life and art through the prism of 154 songs from all stages of his career - from his earliest boyhood compositions through the legendary decade of The Beatles, to Wings and his solo albums to the present. Arranged alphabetically to provide a kaleidoscopic rather…

The first cinema, the Asakusa Denikikan, was opened in Tokyo in 1903 and within 13 years 300 cinemas had sprung up throughout the country... (The author) focuses on the historical development of Japanese film, illustrated by a series of typical Japanese film posters.
