Conference papers prepared as background information for the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies Biennial Meeting on 21-22 May, 1980. An effort to assess in a series of articles, the range of legal relationships of Aborigines to the Land in the states and territories. The editor explains: "In 1966 no Aborigines in Australia owned land by virtue of being Aborigine. Fifteen years later, Aborigines hold title to over 469,995 square kilometers, handled differently in the various Australian jurisdictions.
