Description:
London: Thorley Publications, 1977. First. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. Royal Air Force Halton, or more simply RAF Halton, is one of the largest Royal Air Force stations in the United Kingdom. It is located near the village of Halton near Wendover, Buckinghamshire. The site has been in use since the First World War but is due to close by December 2027. From the jacket: "The author joined Halton with the 18th Entry, 1928=31, and which he describes as the "tough and demanding school wherein we were hammered and shaped into our manhood".  He speculates that the results of the training policy were beyond Lord Trenchard's greatest hopes and this became manifest in World War II." This copy is near fine in blue cloth.  The unclipped DJ is also in excellent condition, having been protected by a plastic cover.  Just very slight edge wear.  Inscribed by the author on the half title page and dated in the year of publication.  There is also a tipped in signed slip requesting comments from the recipient. .
