Published in conjunction with a traveling exhibition which opened at CAPC Musee d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux on May 9, 1986 and closed at the Hayward Gallery, London on September 26, 1987. One of the most distinguished art curators and historians of the twentieth century, Brenda Richardson began her career at the University Art Museum in Berkeley (1964-1975), and went on to become the chief curator at the Baltimore Museum Art between 1975 and 1998.
