The Tenth Tennessee Infantry was a small but deadly regiment of expert riflemen. Led by Colonel Randall McGavock, the unit inflicted heavy casualties on the Union Army, throughout the Civil War.The painting featuresd on this book cover, in full color, was done by famous Civil War illustrator Mort Kuenster. The image depicts the battle of Feb. 13, on Heiman's Hill, near Erin Hollow Cree, during the Fort Donelson campaign.
