Description:
Santa Fe Railway H&M Society. Hardcover. New. The dream of promoter Arthur Edward Stilwell, the Kansas City, Mexico & Orient Railway never made it to Kansas City and never made connections with the Oriental trade. Financed without the aide of Wall Street 'money trusts', the railroad was constructed in many disconnected sections in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and the states of Sinaloa and Chihuahua in Mexico. Attempts to link the already-built line from the Mexican seaport of Topolobampo, Sinaloa, and the rest of the system were halted by the formidable Sierra Madre and revolutionary activities in Mexico. And in the United States, progress was slow, due to lack of funds. In fact, Stilwell lost control of the railway in 1912 and it was in the hands of receivers more than once. Were it not for the discovery of oil in west Texas in the 1920s, the KCM&O might not have survived to the Depression. As it was, the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway bought it in 1928, completed some of the lines in Texas, and…

Description:
Three Books, each signed. First Editions. Oblong. Each book is near fine, or better. Deisel Daze is near fine in a very good DJ with chipping at the spine and minor shelf wear. Orient is fine with a near fine DJ. Dining Cars is fine and has pictorial boards with no DJ. All three are approximately the same size with Deisel just a little larger. Diesel Daze was published by Kachina Press, in Dallas in 1980. Orient and Dining Cars were published by Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society in 2006 and 2011. The late John McCall was an authority on Santa Fe Railroad. McCall's father worked for Santa Fe for many years and kept a lot of documents. Each book is inscribed and signed by McCall to the same guy. All books have square corners and clean and unmarked pages. These book are being sold as a set because they just go together. The set offers a significant savings over purchasing the books separately. Plus there aren't any signed books on the market.
