Description:
Verlag Waldemar Kramer, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover. 201 pages. German text. Gutmann (1935-1997) founded the so-called Frankfurt Theory of Evolution (also called Critical Evolutionary Theory and Organism-Centered Theory). His work examined life from an engineering perspective, with much emphasis on hydrolics and fluid-filled cavities. Gutmann was very influential in German but did not gain much recognition among English-speaking evolutionists. First edition (first printing). A fine hardcover copy; no dust jacket, as issued. Inscribed by the author to the great American evolutionary scientist Stephen Jay Gould.
