Edgar Award

Every year, the Mystery Writers of America honors the best in mystery fiction in all forms of media, including literature, radio plays, and theatre.

The Edgar Award has been presented since 1954, and the categories for literature include, but are not limited to: Best Novel, Best Paperback Original, Best Short Story, and Best Young Adult.

Each year, a jury of approximately 70 judges selects the winners from over 1,000 books, 500 short stories, as well as plays, films, and television/radio programs. The Edgar Award is a highly prestigious honor in the genre, and the winners receive a statuette in the shape of Edgar Allan Poe's head.
