Woodbridge, Suffolk: Antique Collector's Club, 1999. First edition, 1999. Hardback. 191pp. Publisher's original blue boards with gilt to upper board and spine. Dust jacket. This book has in excess of 300 illustration and over half of these are in colour. Many of the pieces illustrated are extremely rare and have not been seen in print before. Among these are examples form the vast but little known Gutman collection in the United States, to which country large quantities of lustreware were exported in the nineteenth century. The author is one of the foremost authorities on lustreware. The book covers the beginnings of lustreware in 1805 through its heyday in the first half of that century, with later lustreware touched upon. the techniques of lustring are described in detail and there is a comprehensive coverage of the companies and personalities involved in its manufacture. Book in near fine condition. Dust jacket very good and unclipped. Some very slight edge wear and some very slight soiling.
