New York: Random House, 1936. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth spine and pictorial paper over boards. (Ca. 75pp). Numerous color illustrations. Very good. Rather edgeworn and corner bumped, though internally tight and near fine. Attractive early (not first) printing of the fourth Babar title. Sharp copy of a very uncommon title.

I had that book as a child, and I found the social scene of the patrons at the fair, with the little elephant children playing happily, especially amusing. Two twin brothers in shortalls playing kick ball, and on another page, a weight lifter in get this...RED BIKINI TRUNKS!!! And the French to English glossary in the back, trying to figure out for the very life of me what aigrettes were. I thought that might have been some kind of crazy cigarettes, although it was a bird species in the English speak, Egrets. And the French for what arms are....👙BRAS!!! Aigrettes? No, I don't believe I have any aigrettes. I've had regrets about things, but aigrettes, or egrets? No. This is a rare old book that one will find a heart's delight as I did, or have fun with. I recommend it as a collectible.
