Boston, MA: Thomas and Andrews, 1798. Book. Very good condition. Hardcover. Early edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 388 pages of text. Newly rebound in brown cloth with a maroon leather spine label. The title page and the fold-out map frontispiece was washed. Minor foxing to text. Early owner's ink inscription on the top of an interior page. Title continues "...on the American Continent, and its Appendant Islands; Particularly the West-Indies. Describing the Extent, Boundaries, Population, Government, Production, Commerce, Manufactures, Curiosities, &c of the several Countries, and of their important Civil Divisions, and the Longitude and Latitude, the Bearings and the Distances, from noted Places, of the Cities, Towns, and Villages. To which is Annexed an Accurate Table of all the Post-Offices in the United States." The folding map is titled "Map of North America from the Latest Discoveries 1798." Howes J842, a reprint of the 1797 expansion with the current title, which was expanded from the 1789 "American Geography", which was expanded from the 1784 "Geography Made Easy...", which was the first American school geography book..
