Stuttgart, Schweizerbart, 1906. Two parts in two. Large 4to (30.5 x 25.7 cm). Two title pages, 185 pp.; ten chromolithographed plates; one large, folded map. Original printed wrappers. = A very detailed monograph of the non-marine molluscs of the Hawaiian island Molokai, or Moloka'i. Written by the German malacologist Johann Friedrich Borcherding (1849-1924). He included a history of the island, and a history of Hawaiian malacology. The descriptions are detailed, and full synonymies are given. The illustrations are very good. Many if not all species listed here are threatened or extinct due to the introduction of exotic predators. Top corner of the last two plates of the second volume with a weak crease; very insignificant wear to part of the first volume's lower margin, otherwise fine. Very uncommon, especially in a near mint state, such as this one. Cat. BM(NH) Suppl. p. 109. Not in Nissen ZBI.
