Printed with the music for each song. Gay's Achilles was produced posthumously, 5 years after the great success of The Beggar's Opera. It is a burlesque of classical myth in which Achilles is dressed as a woman to infiltrate the court of Lycodemes and woo Deidama, only to have Lycodemes fall in love with him. With the bookplate of John Whipple Frothingham. Leather on spine slightly scuffed; edges and corners worn; half-title toned; o/w a fine copy, complete with half-title and 3 final leaves of advertisements.
