Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by Hugo on the half-title to close friend and fellow writer, Ernest d'Hervilly: A mon cher et charmant/ poëte d'Hervilly / Victor Hugo." Finely bound in three-quarter blue crushed morocco over black and blue marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, four raised bands, speckled edges, gray marbled endpapers, original gray printed front wrapper bound in at front. Spine lightly faded, mild rubbing and slight wear to the extremities, front wrapper with some light staining; internally, very clean with a few scattered spots, else near fine. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine.
