New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc, 1959. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. The story of a woman's rise from high-priced call girl into a political career that made her governor of Louisiana. This was the first of two novels by Wirt Williams (1921-86) to be nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Inscribed and dated by Williams on the title page. Octavo. Original black buckram over mauve buckram binding, with lavender and silver titles. Some offsetting to the front endpaper. Remainder mark to the bottom edge. The dust jacket is a bit edgeworn; otherwise very good.
