All 40 indexed illustrations are present with additional un-indexed plates. There is also a fold-out map of South Africa at the front. Scarce, true first edition in original publisher's cloth binding. There is an Index and a 32-page publisher's catalog at the back.

Condition:
Cloth tears at the bottom 2 cover corners; small cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Consistent light foxing throughout the book (though heavy foxing to the front/rear end papers, as well as to the frontispiece and title page). The folding map of South Africa at the front is securely attached and is in very good condition with no tears. Pages 2-12 have a tiny tear at the outer edge. Old bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. Old name written in pencil on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.
