About This Item

George Allen & Unwin Ltd. First edition published by George Allen & Unwin in 1977. This is a very good copy. The wrapper has been price clipped and the spine has faded by a shade. The green cloth boards are in excellent condition. The side text block has a handful of foxing marks. Tenzing Norgay has signed his name on the front free end paper without dedication.  Tenzing Norgay was part of the 1953 British Expedition Team to attempt to climb Mount Everest for the first time. He had already attempted to do so with a Switzerland Expedition Team not long before this attempt and had significant experience of the mountain. It was decided by the expedition team leader that a first British pairing would attempt to reach the summit and if this failed a reserve pairing of New Zealand Bee Farmer Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa would make a second attempt. The first pairing didn't make it and had to turn back, which set about a series of events that went down in history. This is Tenzing's autobiography of his life and successful climb to the summit. Very rare to find signed. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1977.
