London: William Mackenzie, c1886. Leather. Very Good. 10.5" by 8". None. The first four volumes of this comprehensive look at Britain in the nineteenth century, with beautiful illustrations, and in decorative morocco. Volumes I - IV only(of seven). Bound as Two Volumes. With a selection of engraved plates. James Taylor, 1813-1892, was a minister of the United Presbyterian church, historian, and civil servant. As well as numerous articles in the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Imperial Dictionary of Biography, United Presbyterian Magazine, and individual sermons and pamphlets, Taylor published several historical works. In half Morocco leather bindings, with cloth boards. Externally, some rubbing prominent to the spine, with some water stains to the cloth. The front joint of volume 3/4 is starting. Internally, firmly bound, bright with just the occasional spot, prominent to the plates. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
