This is the book that started what eventually became the Boy Scout movement, first published during the Boer War.

Publisher's catalog of military books on pp. 46-72 following text. The author, Lieut. Oliver Ellsworth Wood, had served in the Connecticut cavalry during the Civil War, prior to attending West Point. He became a first lieutenant in 1870 and was discharged as a Brigadier General in 1906. In Very Good Condition: professional restoration of original binding; scattered light foxing; pages are otherwise clean.
