About This Item

New York; (1935): The Studio Ltd. First Edition. Small Quarto. 124 pages. illustrated in black and white. In this major work Le Corbusiner declared that avant-garde architecture should be identified with technological progress, and of course, flying had become a symbol of that progress. In an earlier work Towards Architecture (1923) he wrote: The house, understood as a machine, must be a useful object, manufactured by assembling industrialised parts in the same way as a car, an aeroplane or a ship. His concern was for beauty along with technology; especially, the remarkable advances of aircraft. Printed in a small print run, this has become another of Le Corbusiner's major works on art, architecture and a technological world where economic proress may move ahead of the potential of artistic development. Bound in blue cloth lettered and decorated in black , spine lettering black, spine faded, some wear to corners and spine ends.
