The school was a part of the Cal-Aero Academy, which was a flight school contracted by the United States Army Air Forces to provide military pilot training. The Institute was set up in response to high demand for skilled aircraft workers during the War. The school offered courses in various aspects of aircraft maintenance and repair, including engine overhaul, sheet metal work, and electrical systems. After the war, the demand for aircraft mechanics decreased, and the Cal-Aero Technical Institute, like many other wartime training programs, was eventually closed.
