New York: R. F. Fenno & Company, 1904. Square copy with moderate spine wear. Foxing to frontispiece and title page. Otherwise unmarked. Rear inner hinge starting to crack, but still holding firm. No owner's name or bookplate. [1904]. Illustrated in color with frontispiece and one plate by W. Herbert Dunton. Two b/w plates by John Cameron. Some books with the author listed as Louis Tracy were written in collaboration with M P. Shiel. This is one. Tracy (1863-1928) sometimes used the pseudonym "Gordon Holmes." First published in London as The Albert Gate Affair, this book features the barrister-detective Reginald Brett. Later published as The Jewell of Death (Westbrook, 1911).
