Near fine in the second state dust jacket which is in good condition with the $3.00 price present. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. Set in the 1930s, "All The King's Men" traces the rise and fall of Willie Stark, who resembles the real-life Huey "Kingfish" Long of Louisiana. Stark begins his political career as an idealistic man of the people but soon becomes corrupted by success. Generally considered the finest novel ever written on American politics. Basis for the 1949 film starring Broderick Crawford and the 2006 remake with Sean Penn, Jude Law and Kate Winslet. Named by Modern Library as one the 100 greatest novels of the twentieth century.
Synopsis
All the King's Men is a novel by Robert Penn Warren, first published in 1946. The novel's title is drawn from the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. In 1947 Warren won the Pulitzer Prize for All the King's Men. It was adapted for film in 1949 and 2006; the 1949 version won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
