Hannover: Hahn'sche Hofbuchhandlung, 1859. Hardcover. Small 4to. Quarter burgundy morocco with raised bands and gilt spine lettering/rules and marbled paper over boards. xvi, 978pp. Very good. Mild binding edgewear only, else internally tight and near fine. Attractive and tight twelfth edition of this well-known dictionary by the famed German lexicographer and grammarian (1764-1829), with assistance in later editions such as this by his famed son, Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Heyse, and C.A.F. Mahn. Title translates roughly as "General Germanized and Explanatory Foreign Dictionary with Designation for Pronunciation and Emphasis of Words along with Exact Statement of Origin and Formation." Done up in classic two-column format. An exceptional copy.
