Volume 1 is an illustrated history of American eating and drinking. The book is comprised of a series of essays on the history of food in America, accompanied by wonderful drawings, color reproductions of paintings, advertisements, and photographs. Volume 2 is the cookbook and contains menus for historic regional meals, such as "Lincoln's Inaugural Luncheon," "Thanksgiving During the Revolution," and "Christmas Dinner at Mount Vernon," and the accompanying recipes. A clean very presentable set of books.
