SCARCE biograpy of first U.S. President George Washington. 1894 limited printing edition, this book numbered 1377. In two volumes -- this is volume II, includes chapters: "Starting the Government," and "Foreign Affairs." Gold gilt top edge, clean, untanned pages. Blue cloth hardback, tight binding, edging on crown and heel of spine. In this biography, General George Washington was the idol of the country and his soldiers. The army was unpaid, and the troops were eager to have him take control of the disordered country. Some wanted to make him a king. Others thought to make him a dictator. Ex-Libris with stamp on copyright page "released from library" and "W 92" on spine; ink dot marks on pp 146-150, 186-187. Library card on last endpaper with cut in page above it.
