The cover of this issue of the Anglo-Saxon Review is modelled on Alessandro Piccolomini's work, "Della Institione Morale libri XII.", printed at Venice in 1560. Red leather with detailed gilt arabesques to both boards. Five compartment spine with gilt titles. Top edge gilt. Seven illustrations (including frontispiece) with tissue guards. Decorated initials to chapters. Contributors to this edition include: Frederick Greenwood, W. H. Mallock, Wilfrid Meynell, Edmund Gosse, George Bernard Shaw, Winston S. Churchill etc Book in very good condition. Corners and edges a little rubbed. Some rubbing and wear to extremities of spine, which is also beginning to crack at the upper and lower areas of its hinges. Virtually free of spotting though there is some toning to endpapers.
