Synopsis
"I love books. I hope when I grow up to be able to have lots of them." Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote in her journal when she was just fourteen. This journal entry, made in 1889, is significant to readers today who know that when she grew up she not only owned and read many books, but also became the world-famous author L. M. Montgomery. Maud, as she liked to be called by family and friends, wrote twenty-four books between 1908 and 1939. Her first was Anne of Green Gables , and her other works include seven more Anne books, the Avonlea stories, the Emily trilogy, two novels for adults, an autobiography, and the novel The Story Girl. Lucy Maud Montgomery was always writing and reading and was quite a story girl herself, creating more than five hundred short stories. She also wrote many poems. One edition of her poetry was published during her lifetime and today all her poems have been collected in a single volume.

We are located at 88 Blackstock Road, Inman, South Carolina near Interstate 85 (Between Atlanta and Charlotte) west of Spartanburg. Signs will give direction to Inman. Take U.S. 176 West about 6-8 miles to Inman. Coming from Greenville on I-85--- take U.S. 176 West and follow the same direction. Come to a Hardee's on the right and a McDonald's on the left. At the signal light turn left on State 292. Go about 100 yards and turn a soft left on Blackstock Road. Pass two Nursing Homes on the left and we are located behind First Free Will Baptist Church at the end of the parking pavement. We are located from Interstate 26 about 12 miles from the North Carolina line on I-26 East. Take the Inman exist on State 292. Continue through the town of Inman on 292. Come to a signal light at 292 and U.S. 176. See a hardee's on the left and a Fast Phil's on the right. Stay on State 292 under the signal light Go about 100 yards and turn a soft left on Blackstock Road. Pass two Nursing Homes on the left and we are located behind First Free Will Baptist Church at the end of the parking pavement.
